This year, the XII Republican Student Subject Olympiad was held online on 15th of April by organizing with Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science Department of Sociology and Social Work of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi with the support of the Fund of the First President Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to the results of competition, the team named "Alive" from KazNU named after Al-Farabi took I place. and "Silver" was shared by the team "Rukhani Batys" from ZKGU named after d M. Utemisov and "Sociomen" representing ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov. The third place went to “Ideal Generation” (KazNatsZhenPU), “Demoscope 2020” (KarGU named after E. Buketov) and “Yassaui” (MKTU named after H. A. Yassaui). In accordance with the conditions of the Olympiad teams presented their research projects on the topic: “Volunteering in modern society: social prospects”.
2020 is declared the year of volunteering in Kazakhstan, which means that good deeds and help will be supported which are carried out without any payment or praise. In this regard, participants were invited to consider the social aspects of the impact of volunteering on the development of modern society. The participants in the Olympiad took this issue very seriously, and in their research projects they theoretically revealed the relevance of the topic, provided a scientific basis and used several methods of social research. Scientific works and projects were evaluated according to the following criteria: theoretical justification of scientific work, practical significance of the results, the team’s contribution to the study, proof (presentation logic, ability to draw conclusions, generalize research results). Each of the participants was able not only to demonstrate their professional skills in their field, but also to show their competitiveness.
The Olympiad was attended by members of the team "Sociomen" in the specialty "5B050100 - Sociology" Department of Sociology in Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov 3-year students Zharmukhametov Aybarys, Kazhitova Riza, Aytuganova Zhansaya. Supervisors are young specialists from the Department of Sociology, Masters of Social Sciences Ashirbaeva Farida Mamyrovna and Zhanadilova Aigul Ermekovna.
