The first stage of online training of trainers (ToT) was launched

Today, January 18, at the Department of sociology of the L.N.Gumilev Eurasian national University started the first stage of online training of trainers (ToT) in the framework of a joint project with UNICEF and the Ministry of labour and social protection of population «Strengthening national curricula for the training and further training of social work specialists in the main competences of interaction and cooperation with the community with the aim of changing social norms of behaviour». The project is implemented in partnership with the Columbia University School of Social Work, the Center for Global Health Research in Central Asia (USA, New York), and the National Alliance of Professional Social Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The moderator of the training is Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU, Executive Director of the NGO "National Alliance of Professional Social Workers" Yessimova Dinara Gabibollayevna.

The Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Children’s Rights of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Imangaliyev Yessengazy and the Deputy Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Narbekova Banu, UNICEF Health Program Coordinator Sukhanberdiev Kanat, UNICEF Health Program Coordinator Tikhonova Larissa, Professor, General Director of the LLP «Center SALP», Member of the Working Group on the Development of the Social Code of Suleimenova Rosa, Deputy Director-General for Anti-epidemic Work of the Kazakh Scientific Centre for Dermatology and Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health Petrenko Irina delivered their welcoming speech.

On behalf of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU, Somzhurek Baubek made a welcome speech.

Project Coordinator, PhD, Associate Professor of Sociology of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU Baigabylov Nurlan, informed the participants about the objectives of the training and presented the training programme.

The main aim of the training is to strengthen the capacities of practitioners, the civil sector, the service delivery system (AIDS centers) and the revision of social work curricula, Social pedagogy for more effective training of specialists for social support for children in difficult situations, including children affected by HIV and other chronic diseases.

The teaching staff of higher educational establishments of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which provide training in the fields of «Social work», «Social pedagogy and self-knowledge», higher medical colleges, medical universities, as well as specialists in the social work of AIDS centers, workers of NGOs in the regions of Nur-Sultan, Karaganda and Karaganda region, North Kazakhstan Region, East Kazakhstan Region, Kostanay and Akmola regions take part in the training. Total - 115 participants.

Throughout the training sessions will be held on the following topics:

- ethical and professional behavior (values, beliefs, ethical dilemmas);

- working with stigma and discrimination in the practice of social services;

- basic interpersonal skills;

- assessment of the needs of the child and family (primary and in-depth);

- design of services, development of an individual plan for family support;

- community mapping of resources;

- interaction with other sectors.

Based on the results of the first stage of online training of trainers, which will last until January 29, 50 participants will be selected for the second stage.

Participants who complete two stages of training will receive a certificate with the right to conduct trainings and will train students and specialists in the basics of social work and practical tools necessary for comprehensive and effective customer support.
