Professional research practice for second-year doctoral students of the Department of Religious Studies

On January 18, 2021, the professors of the Department of Religious Studies, including the head of the department, held an online meeting with second-year doctoral students of the Department of Religious Studies and identified the offices of work and the work plan for research practice for the period from January 18 to March 28, 2021.

The purpose of conducting professional practice is to familiarize doctoral students with the latest theoretical and methodological achievements of domestic and foreign science, with modern methods of scientific research, processing and interpretation of experimental data.

During the period of their research practice, doctoral students carried out the following work: in accordance with the requirements of the quality management system, familiarization with the safety instructions of the Department of Religious Studies; familiarization with regulatory documents, teaching materials, material and technical base and the program of professional practice of the Department of "Religious Studies"; interaction with potential employers, collection of expert opinions for the educational program 6В02206 - Religious studies; participation in lectures, practical exercises of the teaching staff of the department "Religious Studies", the development of new methods; collection of sources on the topic of dissertation research at the Department of "Religious Studies"; participation in the online seminar "Challenges of right-wing radical and religiously motivated violent extremism during the COVID-19 pandemic"; collection of sources to supplement anthropological material in order to prepare an article; participation in online training at the Expert Public Space “Conducting online surveys and focus groups. Methodology and available services”, speaker S. Bisembaev; participation in the practical intensive: "Basics of analytics in Power BI", acquisition of information presentation skills, data analysis; revision of the article for a foreign publication, indexed in the Scopus database according to the conclusions of two independent reviewers on the topic of dissertation research; obtaining remote access to the American e-library with the assistance of the American Corner of the Library of L.N. Gumilyov; study of the book "Western Sufism: from the Abbasids to the New Age" by Mark Sadjwick to refine the above article; study of A. Izbairov's monograph "Classical Islam: history repeats itself (two conflicting paradigms of the Middle Ages and the present)" to refine the above article; participation in the online lecture “Deradicalization in Central Asia: work in prisons and the reintegration of women and children returned from Syria and Iraq”, speakers, experts from Central Asian countries; participation in advanced training at the Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise "Forensic examination", lecturer T. Amzeeva; participation in the seminar "The Phenomenon of Religious Conversion in Kazakhstan" senior teacher, PhD Kaliev K.; interaction with executive editors of publications included in the KKSON RK (VAK) - Vestnik Kh.A. Yasavi and Vestnik KazNU regarding the publication of prepared articles; participation in the online course "Islamic Law" by Leonid Rudolfovich Syukiyainen, organizer of the Department of Theory of Law and Interdisciplinary Legal Disciplines, National Research University Higher School of Economics; collecting material and writing a section of dissertation research content analysis; translation into English of the Program of the entrance creative examination for groups of educational programs "B033-Religion and Theology"; interaction with a foreign publication, working out a draft version of an article for publication; study of the research direction of MGIMO activities under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further internship abroad; analysis of transcripts conducted prior to practice in-depth interviews with imams, Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox priests; analysis of transcripts of a meeting with a focus group of students of the Almaty Theological Orthodox Seminary; revision and revision of the article "Islam in Kazakhstan in the context of the coronavirus pandemic: a" test "by mediatization" co-authored at the end of 2020; revision of the structure of the thesis jointly with domestic and foreign scientific supervisors; work with a summary of M. Smagulov's dissertation "Value paradigms of Islamic education: traditions and innovations" as a manuscript; discussion with the supervisor of the issues of the international scientific-practical conference of the department "Religion and religious studies in the context of digitalization of society"; preparation of a list of universities and research organizations, as well as a list of personalities for sending a newsletter to the conference; sending the article “Islam in Kazakhstan in the context of the coronavirus pandemic: a“ test ”by mediatization” to the editorial office of the journal “Central Asia and the Caucasus”, indexed in the Scopus database.

On March 28, 21, a reporting seminar was held on the work done on dissertation research with adviser N.E. Kairbekov. and 2nd year doctoral students of the Department of Religious Studies .

Given the situation in the country with the pandemic, the research practice took place online. The content of research practice was determined by the topic of dissertation research of doctoral students. Despite some difficulties in organizing the online practice, the leaders and doctoral students successfully achieved their goals and completed the practice.

In the course of research practice, doctoral students used the resources of the department, faculty and university library scientific fund.
