As part of the Human Rights Hogwarts project, implemented by the Smart Zharan Association, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy Ulbolsyn Sandybayeva made an expert report «The Politics of Memory in Kazakhstan: Representation of the Traumatic Memory of Totalitarianism”. A discussion was held with the participation of two more speakers: journalist Asem Zhapisheva and human rights consultant Rustam Kypshakbaev. The project is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy and aims to train a new generation of activists and human rights defenders. U.Sandybayeva, together with the project participants, visited the ALZHIR Museum and spoke about the history, concept of the museum and compared the representations of the memory of different museums of conscience.
