SOLID INTERNATIONAL PROJECT «SOCIAL WORK AND STRENGTHENING OF NGOs IN DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION TO TREAT DRUG ADDICTION» ON SOCIAL WORK

The international project SOLID "Social work and strengthening of NGOs in development cooperation to treat drug addiction", is a scientific-educational, research program funded by the DAAD Foundation, aimed at strengthening, cooperation and development of social work in the area of drug addiction treatment that is in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

health and well-being,

quality education,

gender equality,

reduced inequalities,

peace, justice and strong institutions as the overall framework

The SOLID project involves young researchers from five countries - Germany, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Kazakhstan, who are engaged in research in three key areas:

Social work, drug treatment with special focus on opioid substitution treatment including psychosocial support and counseling

Social work and infectious disease including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, Hepatitis-C, COVID-19

Social work in prisons and with people with imprisonment experiences due to illicit drug use, sale, or possession.

The project coordinator from the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is Yessimova Dinara, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology.

Congratulations to our young scientists on the successful completion of the first stage of the project:

Baigabylov Nurlan, PhD in the specialty “Sociology”, post-doctoral student;

Mukasheva Dalida - 1st year PhD student, specialty “Sociology”;

Kudabekov Medet - 3rd year PhD student, specialty “Sociology”;

Baltabayeva Zhaniyat - 3rd year PhD student, specialty "Social pedagogy and self-knowledge".

The main criteria were: correspondence to the theme with the three key areas of SOLID research, UN SDGs until 2030, innovation and originality of submitted research projects. 

Within the framework of the project, young scientists participated in the ISSUP webinars "International Standards for the Treatment of Drug Use Disorders", and also took part in the autumn school at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

On 18th of June 2021, it is planned to participate in the online seminar "The International Perspectives on New Psychoactive Substances (NPS)". https://solid-exceed.org/courses/seminars-and-workshops

Monthly meetings are held on an ongoing basis in three key research areas, where reports, research design, scientific structure and PhD project are reviewed and discussed.

In the course of providing the structure of the exposé, the project coordinators, Professor Heino Stöver and Professor Ingo Michels gave recommendations to doctoral students. In the future, doctoral students will develop and complementing their research in cooperation with supervisors.
