International Scientific and Practical Conference at the Department of Religious Studies

       On April 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. the Department of Religious Studies of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University jointly with the Institute of Analysis of Religious Situation and Religious Expertise under the NJSC «N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue» hosts the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Religion and Religious Studies in the Context of Digitalization» dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 Digital technologies have become an integral part of the life of a modern person and society, this phenomenon has taken on new dimensions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Religion as a part of culture, society and human existence is involved in the process of digitalization and mediatization, which has accelerated at the present time and requires its understanding in the context of new discursive and social practices.

 Within the conference a wide range of issues related to the influence of digital technologies on various aspects of the functioning of religion, religious and non-religious actors, on intra-religious and inter-religious interactions in changed social conditions, as well as on the relationship between religion and secular ideologies, structures, and subjects in offline and as well as in online format shall be discussed.

 The conference pays special attention to the challenges, opportunities and limitations faced by researchers of religion, as well as theologians in the context of digital society.

 Scientists, experts, doctoral students, undergraduates, students interested in researching the designated topic are invited to participate in the Conference.
