February 13, 2019 L.N. Gumilyov ENU held the opening ceremony of the Year of Youth with the participation of rector himself. During the ceremony, various youth projects were presented aimed at improving the life of society. One of the social projects was presented by doctoral candidate of the ATP department Abenova Saulet, who spoke on the topic “Environmental volunteering as a way to modernize students' consciousness”. The theme of volunteering, designated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was supported among the youth of ENU. Indeed, as N. Nazarbayev said, “Students are the powerful source of volunteering and charity. This helps young people to quickly adapt to the labor market and contribute to their further self-realization. "
The doctoral candidate told about the works by eco-volunteers and shared her further plans. For example, eco-volunteers have developed a project of an educational nature - the creation of signs to draw attention to resource conservation. The signs will be located in the most crowded places of the university, namely, in the corridors, classrooms, departments, canteens, etc. In addition, the eco volunteers have developed leaflets and postcards with ecological content, informing about the main directions of environmental activities in the world and our country.
Having collected the experience of leading universities in creating “green”, universities Abenova Saulet shares her opinion on the first steps of ENU in this direction.
The goal of activities of this ecological movement is to increase its social significance; the presentation of environmental volunteering as an integral component of the formation of environmental awareness and ecological culture of the population; aiming self-realization of environmentally concerned consciousness, the principles of environmental protection.
The rector of our university, E. B. Sydykov awarded the most active eco-volunteers of ENU, furthermore inviting young people to intensify the work of eco-volunteering, stressing that volunteering should be a way of life of a modern civilized young men in preserving the environment.
