On February 9, 2022, Aigerim Temirbayeva, a 3rd-year PhD student of the Department of Religious Studies, performed a lecture on the topic: «Sufism in modern Kazakhstan: continuation of tradition or innovation? ».

The lecture was organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought and the Institute of Knowledge Integration.

Basic points:

- modern Sufi groups in Kazakhstan;

- social portrait of leaders (sheikhs);

- aspects of leadership legitimacy;

- attractive factors of Sufi groups.

During the lecture, the participants asked questions and also shared information on the topic. At the end, the participants gratituted for the interesting lecture.
