On April 20, 2023, the L.N. Gumilev ENU hosted an international scientific seminar on the topic “Prevention of bullying and cyberbullying in educational organizations: Theory and practice” within the framework of the IRN BR 1857452 target project “Research of topical aspects and development of measures to prevent bullying against children”, organized by the project manager Asylbekova Marzia Pazilovna, Ph.D., Professor, head of the Department of “Pedagogy”.
The seminar was attended by scientists from far and near abroad – Turkey, the USA, and Russia, as well as scientists, and doctoral students of the Department of “Pedagogy” of the L.N. Gumilev ENU. The official part of the seminar began with a congratulatory speech by Somzhurek Baubek Zhumashevich, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The event on such a topical issue as “Prevention of bullying and cyberbullying in educational organizations: Theory and practice” was accompanied by interesting reports and an exchange of opinions
The seminar was attended by Taner Atmazha, an invited speaker, Ph.D., associate professor at the University of Duzce, Turkey, with a scientific report on the topic “Pedagogical practices of preventing violence and crime at school”. The report examines school violence and juvenile delinquency studies, including related risk factors and the effectiveness of various preventive measures and strategies.
The following speakers also made scientific reports: Julia Margaret Poishunder, Ph.D., Columbia University, USA, the topic of the report “Prevention of bullying and cyberbullying in educational organizations” – online participation;
Khalikova Lilia Rashitovna, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Bashkir State Pedagogical University named after M. Akmulla, Ufa, Russia, the topic of the report “The problem of bullying in the representations of students and teachers”;
Marina A. Rushina, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Patrisa Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia – report on the topic “Psychological features of hidden bullying among students”.
Domestic scientists: project manager Asylbekova Marzia Pazilovna, Ph.D., Professor, head of the Department of “Pedagogy” – a report on the topic “Predictors of adolescent bullying by peers”; Shalgynbaeva Kadisha Kadyrovna, Ph.D., Professor of the Department of “Pedagogy” - the topic of the report “Socio-psychological portraits of bullying participants and features of working with them” and also other scientists-professors of the Department of Pedagogy.
The topics' relevance, the research's practical results, and the format of the reports were evaluated by the participants and guests of the seminar, as evidenced by the heated discussion during the seminar. The seminar participants highly appreciated the level of the event and the quality and practical significance of the reports provided. On behalf of the University administration, Somzhurek Baubek Zhumashevich, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, expressed gratitude to the organizers for the significant event and concluded the seminar by awarding the participants.
