As part of the Decade of Science L.N. Gumilyov Department of Psychology held a scientific seminar on the topic: "The role of psychologists in the neuropsychological rehabilitation of people who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI): theory and experience", speaker of the 3rd year doctoral student Kurmangalieva Zhanargul (supervisor Ph.D., Associate Professor Nuradinov Almat).

In her report, the doctoral student revealed important aspects of the properties of neurogenesis and neuroplasticity of the brain during the period of neuropsychological rehabilitation. The ability of the brain to restore its functions makes it possible to correctly build neuropsychological assistance to people who have had TBI. Neuropsychological rehabilitation consists in restoring disturbed mental functions and overcoming changes in the personality of patients.

Kurmangalieva Zh.K. used in her work the methods of sensory integration, as well as the techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy and art therapy. All of these methods have a positive effect on certain parts of the cerebral cortex and force the formation of those skills that, due to a number of circumstances, have been lost.

We wish doctoral student Kurmangalieva Zhanargul success and new achievements in science!
