April 28, 2022 at the Department of Studies of Religion together with the NAO "Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interconfessional and Intercivilizational Dialogue" was held an international scientific conference on "Religious Studies in Kazakhstan in the context of world religious studies: path, traditions, development trends". This conference was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the specialty of Religious Studies at the L.N. Gumilev ENU and the upcoming VII Congress of World and Traditional Religions to be held from 14 to 15 September 2022.
Representatives of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmet Yasawi, Buketov Karaganda University, Research Centre of Islamic History, Art and Culture under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Cognitive Patriotic Club "Rukhaniyat", Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, Russian Orthodox Church, Conference of Catholic Bishops of Kazakhstan, Evangelical Lutheran Church addressed the conference.
Representatives of the Russian Islamic Institute (Kazan, Russian Federation), Karshi Institute of Engineering and Economics (Karshi, Uzbekistan), Bulgarian Islamic Academy (Kazan, Russian Federation), Tyumen State University (Tyumen, Russian Federation), Saint Petersburg State University (Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation), Vladimir Law Institute (Vladimir, Russian Federation), International Islamic Academy (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) also took active part.
On the whole, the conference was a success and there was a lively discussion and exchange of views on the theme of the conference.
